I highly advise/recommend you find another Vet and here is why: I brought my two approximately 10-week-old puppies to this veterinarian for ear-crop surgeries. I paid for both procedures and the postoperative services provided. After surgery, both puppies were sent home with protective cones. Instead of securing the cones through the attachment points/collar system, the cones were secured with STRING. The cones subsequently came off while the puppies still had stitches and were still in the critical postoperative healing period. When I contacted the office because the cones had come off, I was told by the office manager that using string to secure the cones is part of the clinic's “policy.” I asked to see this policy because I had never been informed of it. I was then told that there is NO written policy. That is extremely concerning to me. If something is considered a clinic “policy” that directly affects postoperative care and the protection of a surgical site, I believe a client should at least be informed of that procedure and given appropriate postoperative instructions. I was not informed before the surgeries or at discharge that the cones would be secured with string, nor was I informed that I could potentially be charged for replacement cones if they came off. The cones did come off, and rather than taking responsibility for the method used to secure them, the office attempted to charge me for replacement cones. I had already paid for the surgeries and postoperative care. I attempted to resolve the issue directly with the office. I specifically questioned the “policy,” requested to see it, and explained my concerns. The office ultimately refused to resolve the matter. My concern is NOT simply the cost of two replacement cones. My concern is the quality and communication of postoperative care for two very young puppies who had just undergone surgery and still had stitches. The method chosen by the clinic to secure their protective cones failed, and I was then told that the method was supposedly a clinic policy that does not even exist in written form. I have documented the conversations, the charges, the postoperative circumstances, and the clinic's responses. Because the practice refused to address my concerns, I am taking the appropriate next steps to have the matter reviewed by the appropriate regulatory authority. I strongly encourage anyone considering surgery for their pet to ask detailed questions about postoperative care BEFORE the procedure, including exactly how protective devices will be secured, what happens if they come off, what is included in the surgical fee, and what the clinic's postoperative protocols actually are. My puppies' well-being is my priority, and I expect clear communication, appropriate postoperative care, and accountability when something goes wrong.

Doctor booking is a very professional clinic. Her staff is wonderful. They do anything to help you or to help your animal. I love going to Dr. Brookings clinic very clean and very professional.
